What is mindfulness in schools?

We work with schools with the approach of ‘self education’ through the medium of mindfulness. Our goal is to fulfil the Health and Wellbeing Area of Learning and Experience outlined in the New Welsh Curriculum.

Our courses are taught by teachers who apply a deep knowledge and understanding of mindfulness in their own lives. We adopt a safe and supportive approach to the subject that intrigues and encourages the young person to want to know about the ‘self’ within.

Transforming young minds

Chapter 1

Rabbits
in headlights

At the beginning of the mindfulness journey, students often feel awkward and confused. The rigid structures of traditional education leave them feeling lost.

Chapter 2

Exiting
comfort zones

Transitioning from anxiety to action, we bring students into open forums for self-expression. Participants learn to navigate their thoughts, emotions, and interests.

Chapter 3

From fear
to freedom

Students emerge as changed individuals. They start to ask questions, share knowledge, and support their peers. Leading to a more inclusive and supportive classroom.

Explore the
student & teacher mindfulness journey

What are the actual steps involved along the way? Discover the process students and teachers go through on their mindfulness journey.

1: Discovering ones potential

We begin by teaching all participants about their mind and body. We introduce mindfulness techniques and exercises from the very beginning, such as quite and slow time.

2: Building strong relationships

We let students connect and build a relationship with us at their own pace. A relationship that dismantles hierarchy. Together, we share lived experiences, interests, and stories.

3: Listening, feeling, & expressing

Students explore their more inquisitive side. They begin asking questions and share what they’re going through. And most importantly, they develop compassionate listening skills.

4: Discovering happiness

We ask students and teachers what makes them happy and satisfied. We then collectively discuss empathy, love, and how we can work together to achieve happiness and satisfaction.

5: Finding balance

Life isn’t all sunshine and roses. We learn to cultivate gratitude and appreciation, so that everyone can find peace and return to a place of comfort, even at tough times.

6: Reflective practice

Students reflect on what they’ve learned in the past 14 weeks. They take on skills to solve new problems together, and how they can their share results with others.

What’s included in our mindfulness courses?

14 weekly sessions

We arrange 14 flexible workshop sessions that fit into your school timetable. We’re confident these sessions will be the favourite part of every participants’ week.

A personal book of life

Journalling is for everyone. We work with students and teachers to create a ‘Book of Life’. This book can be used to help participants develop their self-understanding.

Meditation exercises

The meditation exercises and mindfulness techniques we teach are often shared with other classmates and family members. We see them as lifelong tools.
